The Wellbeing Evolution in Organisations
💡The Wellbeing Evolution in Organisations
👂If you have listened to one of my keynotes or expert insight sessions recently, you might know this chart. I like to use it a lot! (all rights reserved;)
So here are some words about the story behind this chart:
🦺Health and Safety: The roots of today's wellbeing movement in organizations trace back to our fundamental need for safety. Just like Maslow's pyramid, we must feel secure and protected in our work environments. Fortunately, many companies have excelled in this area over the past decades, significantly reducing physical accidents. However, as work has shifted more towards office-based settings, new challenges have emerged.
🧘🏾Wellbeing Programs: With the increase in workplace stress, increasing working hours and lifestyle-related health issues, organizations began to recognize the importance of holistic wellbeing. Forward-thinking companies implemented comprehensive programs addressing physical, emotional, social, mental, and financial, etc... health long before the onset of Covid-19. While the pandemic accelerated action for some, others are just beginning to consider their approach.
👨🏻💻Ways of Working: For those with established wellbeing strategies and initiatives, the focus shifts to workload, flexibility, leadership style, integration. How can we weave the lessons learned from wellbeing programs into our daily behaviors, work practices, organizational culture? Excitingly, there are effective methods available that don't require hefty investments in new technology.
❓Future: Looking ahead, AI is poised to revolutionize wellbeing efforts. By leveraging AI to boost productivity and facilitate more frequent micro-breaks, we can prioritize our mental and physical health. Additionally, the growing emphasis on reporting wellbeing metrics in ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) frameworks marks a significant shift. It's a game-changer, aligning wellbeing with broader sustainability goals.
💙 I'm incredibly enthusiastic about not just observing but actively participating in this evolution. As a trusted partner to organizations embarking on their strategic wellbeing journey, I'm committed to driving conscious change at every stage. Remember, the best time to act is always now! Let's shape a healthier, more resilient future together.
